Conga warm-up and basic practice

Part 2: Warming up (& training) for forearms and wrists

And equally important is the sound of the open.

It has a beautiful tone with no turbidity, and it takes a long time to make it sound from the body.

When I first started playing musical instruments, I was just practicing open day after day ^^;

Ever since I heard the nasty sound of Honma's conga called "Vi-n" in Cuba, I'm still trying to get closer to that sound.

Aside from that, Tumbao is the basic pattern in salsa.

Anyway, I keep hitting two open sounds all the time.

As you can tell by listening to the sound source, both of them are heard at almost the same volume and at equal intervals.

However, when I started playing an instrument, when I recorded and listened to what I actually did, the volume and note spacing sounded uneven.

Because of that, I heard it fluttering.

After all, my wrists are weak, or I can't control it, so I started training to overcome this, so-called "double stroke" training.

Anyway, Conga just keeps making double strokes. Through one song.

I don't just practice double, but if I leave it alone, it will become weak or the sound will become muddy. Put an accent on the second sound and try not to make the sound muddy so that you can do it at a certain tempo. , I was doing this day after day.

Anyway, it's a mediocre person, and I just practice iteratively until I can remember it. .. ..

Also, if you have multiple instruments, you will move your hands to the right or left, but at the beginning, even if your left and right hands sounded beautifully with one instrument, the sound would become muddy if you moved your hands. Often.

I don't think it's possible to do this at a certain tempo, but if you can play it firmly in one state, it will gradually sound due to the problem of getting used to it, so after all it is a repetitive practice.

In this training, it is more important to play with a beautiful tone even at a certain speed than to emphasize speed, and once you start to mix muddy sounds when you increase the speed, keep hitting at that tempo. Until the muddy sound disappears.

Again, the muddy sound disappears overnight, so I continue training at that tempo for days.

If you practice like that, one day you will be able to do it.

I think my body will remember the shape.

Of course, I also want to speed up, so I'll try it for a while even at a tempo that doesn't make any decent sound, and then continue to return to the original tempo.

By continuing such repetition, the tempo that didn't sound at all gradually began to increase. .. ..

I think that the upper limit of tempo will gradually increase in that way.

I think it's a good idea to start this training slowly and aim for BPM = 90.

It's just a training that you can hit fast.

Please do your best with the aim of being able to play two open sounds with a solid sound at any tempo.
